Ribtec 585 Rib Boat 90hp Honda For Sale – 6000.00

Filed in for sale by on May 12, 2015

Serious sea going RIB, great for fishing , diving , skiing , toys and wakeboarding. 1996 Ribtec 585 coupled with a Honda BF90 Four stroke. The BF90 is also 1996. The boat was retubed by Henshaw in Sept 2006 at a cost of about 4k. The tubes are in all round excellent condition , black 1200 gsm Hypalon with grey dimpled Hypalon wear patches, 5 air chambers with C7 valves. The tubes are slightly larger than the originals. There is no loss of air from any chamber. The engine is an excellent runner, has some superficial scuff marks but starts and runs perfectly every time. The oil is like new after a full seasons use. All trim and tilt pumps are fully working. The ally prop has had a few dings but is perfectly serviceable. Approx 2 inch of the skeg is missing and has been since i bought it , it doesnt affect performance or protection of the prop. The engine pumps water perfectly and does not overheat, there is no smoke from the exhaust and no nasty rattles or noises from the engine. I don't know how many hours it's done as it's pre ECU. I took this boat from Teignmouth to Dartmouth ( 17 miles straight across the bay) recently in 6 foot seas with total confidence. The engine has been serviced the last 2 years and i have bills going back to 1996. The boat is good for a touch over 30kts and could probably go more with a decent s/steel prop. As it is it revs to about 5700 when trimmed up in flat sea. Steering is Baystar hydraulic fitted new in may 2013. There is a new Honda engine control fitted this year as the old one got damaged due to a seized throttle cable. The hull and transom are solid with a few cosmetic chips on the underside. The boat is antifouled. The Aframe is stainless and bolts through the hull so very strong.Thats the good stuff , now on with the bad. The console and seats are tatty , of the guages only the rev counter and fuel usage dials work, pretty sure the trim and tilt will work if i could find the time to wiggle the wires a bit ! it used to before the new control went in. There are fore and aft fuel tanks ( plastic) , the aft one is under the rear seat and is easily accessible , the fore one is under the jockey seat and is not accessible , there is no fuel gauge, the tanks are switchable and in good working order. The throttle cable is too long by about 3 meters , it was the only one i could get at short notice , works fine but is untidy. The single battery , new this year is under the jockey seat and is accessible. The boat is fitted with an auto bilge pump in the transom well and a small access "bolt" to access the inner hull although this isn't necessary as the inner hull stays dry. The deck is in good shape although the Treadmaster is peeling in places. There is a recently serviced ( New barings not yet dipped) trailer included in the price but if not required I'm happy to sell seperately, take off £500 for the trailer. All in all it's very reliable. I was going to refurb it this winter but the Mrs thinks i wont have time. I have found a really nice centre console ( from Sea Swift ) that would fit perfectly and take 2 batts and 80 litres of fuel , with front opening so everything is easy to get at, i was going to put in 2 double jockeys behind the console. The last Ribtec i refurbished benefitted enourmously from having the fuel and batts forward, I can happily advise on where to get parts , layout etc as I think this would make a great project. I have pictures of everything and videos of the motor running and tilt/trim, please message me / call if u want more info or pics. Boat is available in Teignmouth for viewing in or out of water and can be tested by serious folk only.
